Maniratnam’s “Villain” Movie Release today

Much waited day of the year comes today. Maniratnam’s awaited movie ‘Villain’ (Raavan in Hindi and Raavanan in Tamil) is hitting the screens today after creating much sensational promotion among the people all over the world.

The Tamil version Raavanan would be released in 220 prints in Tami Nadu and 125 prints are being released overseas. The Hindi version will have 500 prints across the country, in addition to 305 for overseas while the Telugu version will have 125 prints in India and 25 overseas. All together Villain is releasing in 1280 prints in three versions all over the world. The censor board has certified with clean ‘U’. Madras Talkies and Reliance Big Pictures have acquired the rights of the film.

The star cast of the Telugu and Tamil version includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthik and Prithivi Raj while the Hindi version includes Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Vikram. AR Rahman’s music has already hits the market and created much sensational promotion on the film also.

Anushka’s dual role in ‘Panchakshari’

Anushka’s ‘Panchakshari’ has wrapped up its entire shooting and is gearing up for its release in the month of April. The film-makers recently had a press meet and Anushka had revealed that she is playing a dual role in the film and the roles are distinct in their own way. Anushka, Samudra, ProChandra Mohan, Brahmanandam, Thota Prasad etc attended the press meet.

Samudra, the director of the film said, “The film has come out extraordinarily well with the support of everyone.  Chandra garu has produced the film with an unflinching desire to dole out a good entertainer.  ANR garu and Nagarjuna garu will feel happy that their man has made a good film.  We can confidently claim that we are about to deliver a hit.”

Simha (Balaiah, Nayanatara)

Ramcharan’s Merupu

Ramcharan’s latest film titled Merupu was launched on Friday at Rama Naidu Studios, Hyderabad. Made on Mega Supergood Films Private Limited banner, the film is directed by Dharani and produced by NV Prasad and Paras Jain.

Movie moghal Dr D. Rama Naidu switched on the camera, while the PR Chief and hero’s dad Chiranjeevi clapped the muhurat shot on Ramcharan and Kajal, who are repeating their pairing up after Magadheera.

Pawan Kalyan to act in Love Aaj Kal remake

After the success of Jab We Met, director Imtiaz Ali was roped in by Saif Ali Khan. They made the flick Love Aaj Kal in which Saif also played the role of a producer.  Now the cash rich Telugu film industry’s superstar Pawan Kalyan is remaking this film. The film was launched on 29 March, 2010 in Taj Krishna Hotel, Hyderabad. Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi, MP from Bobbili, tapped the clap for the first shot and Botsa Satyanaryana switched on the camera. Producer Allu Arvind, director Dasari Narayana Rao, K Raghavendra Rao and other famous cine sodality were present.

Mani Ratnam’s Raavan

Mani Ratnam’s Raavan is gaining gradual popularity and is soon sinking in with the audiences right after the release of its teaser. The movie is soon to have its audio release and will hit screens by mid-2010.

Currently, the movie’s official website has Mani Ratnam reflecting on the mythical character Raavan. Amongst different questions he was seen asking whether Raavana is the line that divides the line between Good and Evil. He further proceeds by asking whether Raavana was simply a myth or a metaphor. Well, the shoot of the movie and the extensive research which seems to have gone into the same has apparently put Mani in the mood for reflections.

The hindi version of the flick will have Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan playing the leads whereas the Tamil flick stars Vikram and Aishwarya. The movie, which gives a modern twist on the Ramayana, has many highlights including the talented director who is known to get the best performances out of his actors. There is Aishwarya and Abhishek coming together on the big screen and it also has Santosh Sivan as the cinematographer, who is also known for his work in Asoka and Dil Se.
