Bipasha and John Abraham split

Posted by surfingall on June 14, 2011

John Abraham and his bond with Bipasha Basu earned reams of newsprint during their eight year old relationship. And lassoed in some more media mileage after the liaison went kaput. Expressly with Basu baring her feelings over it and John maintaining a studied silence. Until now, that is.

Word has it that John has gone ahead and spilled the (split) beans in a telly chat show.

Describing Bipasha as a “strong, caring person” , John is reported to have said that their romantic link did not fructify into matrimony simply because they were both “very headstrong individuals.” He’s also reportedly gone on to have said that Bipasha, at heart, was “a very homely person”, quite contrary to the image painted out by the scribe tribe.

Interestingly, John’s parents were on the chat show too and while his dad maintained that he’d be happy to see John settle down with “a girl of his choice”, the actor’s mother said that he needed a “more homely and caring woman who would understand him,” studiously avoiding any mention of Bipasha Basu.

States a close source, “John’s mother did not mention Bipasha even once on the show. John went on to say that it wasn’t easy to end an eight year relationship, because he still cared for Bipasha. He also said that although men may say that they believe in women’s liberation, they are quite chauvinistic at heart. John felt that maintaining a ‘no comments’ stance was best, because he did not want to trivialise matters or get Bipasha into an embarrassing spot by speaking about their split relationship to the media.”

John, as per “close sources” is enjoying his singleton status to the fullest and reportedly been spotted having coffee and dinner with a certain model named Priya.

Badmaash Company

Posted by surfingall on May 8, 2010

Story writer and director – Parmeet Sethi.

The film is fully about four friends who all are Karan (Shahid Kapoor), Bulbul (Anushka Sharma), Chandu (Vir Das) and Zing (Chang). The four will get together and smuggle goods to, by making fools the Customs Officers with several disguises and tricks.

In one night they become rich, because of their luck’s run out they relocate to the United States to carry out more rackets. Earning easy money will make Karan to fell greed and he believes he’s the main man (the boss) of the gang. Because of that the four friends will get separated.

There are so many scenes in Badmaash Company that reminds you of Yashraj’s Bunty Aur Babli, but what disappoints us is, while the cons get more ambitious, the basic idea remains the same. It all starts with shoes in India, which will follow by gloves and houses in US. So the first hour is good, when comes to the second hour it is disastrously boring. Things only get worse when the four gets separated with Karan returning to India, right on time for his dad’s award and eventually returning back to US, only to be arrested by the cops.

When we come to climax it involved none other than Michael Jackson (his lookalike), who is used to sell defective shirts. What’s with Karan’s marriage to an American for a green card? It’s just mentioned once, due to which Bulbul goes away from his life, but when they do reconcile, there is no mention of it.
When considered the total film the first hour is very entertaining and immensely watchable. Anushka Sharma has gone in for a complete makeover and she manages to look sexy. Shahid Kapur is in form once again after a terrible outing with Chance Pe Dance. Vir Das on debut is very good. Chemistry between the actors is nice. Pritam’s tunes go well with the film.

To conclude, Badmaash Company is a very good ‘Bollywood’ film. It has much potential to be a mass entertainer, tragically though, the second half is a major let down.

I think it should have been much better!!

Love Sex Aur Dhokha

Posted by surfingall on April 30, 2010

LSD covers three stories that are linked by the barest of story threads. The first about a film student falling in love with his lead heroine is corny, kitschy and darkly disturbing (especially at the end). This is the highlight of the film and worth watching. There is no sex involved or anything titillating, but the story captures the attention of the viewer on many different levels. Strange isn’t it, but the strongest story is the one that focuses on Love.
